PROBLEM OVERVIEW

Technology programs face numerous challenges, and organisational change management is often underestimated. At ASG, we focus on business outcomes first, and can assist to mitigate change impacts and ensure successful projects

  • THE CHALLENGE

For several years, Macquarie University had been using a well-known cloud-based email provider for its 22,000+ user accounts.

However, when the global provider decided to move its data out of the EU and into the US, IT leaders at Macquarie University were concerned about data sovereignty, as well as accessibility, access speeds, and security.

As a result, the University decided to look for a locally hosted solution that would address these concerns, as well as provide improved collaboration with other Australian universities.

  • THE SOLUTION

After careful consideration, Microsoft Office 365 was selected as the new hosted solution and Macquarie University made the decision to migrate all staff to the Microsoft Office 365 cloud-based platform.

To ensure a smooth transition for its staff, the University chose ASG to manage the Change and Communications aspects of the project.
With vast experience managing many transformations, ASG employed several of its change management tactics to ensure the safe and seamless migration of 22,000 accounts to Office 365.

During the rollout, ASG also provided marketing and communication services to keep staff informed and aware of changes, as well as project coordination and technical support to ensure the project ran on time and within budget.

    Key Project Outcomes

    • Greater security and reliability with a Cloud tenant based in Australia
    • Staff access to full Microsoft suite
    • 2500 staff trained in Office 365
    • Successful handover of technical support to IT HelpDesk and Faculty IT
