Leon Lau from ASG Hong Kong works as a Principal across our portfolio of major industry clients. He was born and raised in Hong Kong and has travelled the world in his career. He says there are few countries that compare to the high-energy, always ‘on’ buzz of Central Hong Kong.

Leon has worked for ASG, previously known as SMS Management, for four years joining the company before it was acquired in 2017.
SMS was well-known in the Hong Kong market for providing technology-based consulting and advisory services, particularly in the Customer Experience (CX) space. It opened its Hong Kong branch in 2010, entering a phase of rapid growth after taking on megabrands Telstra International, HK Jockey Club, AXA, and NAB.
Regional Manager for ASG Hong Kong, Rod van Buuren, was working for SMS in 2010 – 2012 as a Practice Manager during its period of unprecedented growth.
After returning to ASG in 2018, Rod says, “Working for SMS, now ASG, has given me and many of our other employees lots of multinational and cross-industry opportunities.
Whilst working for us means you are based in Hong Kong, many of our projects run regionally across Asia, such as Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan and Philippines.
Our consultants have great exposure to big industries like insurance, retail, utilities and finance, and are supported in learning other skills from our other capability areas.”
The acquisition of SMS by ASG in 2017 brought many changes. The biggest being a whole new layer of capability.
“ASG are well-known in Australia for managed services and IT solutions and are very successful in winning large enterprise and government contracts,” says Rod.
In Hong Kong, our renowned capability in advisory consulting, combined with the broader ASG capabilities and the backing of parent company NRI, has given our region access to a broader set of opportunities and new clients.
Rod says, “We are heading in an exciting new direction at ASG Hong Kong.
We have a close-knit team who really go the extra mile when it comes to our clients and supporting each other, and we are looking to bolster the skills in our team with new recruits.”
